Two tumultuous weeks of campaigning are almost over. Soon campus will be devoid of the colourful posters which have bedecked every vertical surface since Saturday. We’ve had polls every day which you, our readers, have been voting on. Of course, our polls don’t reflect the results 100%, due to the vagaries of the proportional representation system we use (ask a politics student to explain) Without further ado, here’s the educated guesses on who will be getting some good news tonight.

The potential team: Josie, David M-W, Claire, Evan, David G, David M, Oli

VP Welfare The comments section of our articles were a battleground with the cronies friends of each candidate for this position sticking up for their chosen contestant. In this election I would say it’ll be close between Josh Cox and Josie Torrice, with the vote coming down to the fourth or even fifth round. I’d say Josie will win this one.

VP Communities In a two horse race like this one, our poll will be pretty spot on. James is behind in the polls and Oli’s much stronger campaign will count for everything when the votes are counted. Oli to win by some way

VP Engagement Claire has a huge lead over Adam on our poll, 55% to his 25%. In a three way race, that is very significant. With her highly visible “gold star” campaign, Claire to win outright after RON transfers.

VP Sports Development This one will be close, as was last years when Dean Jones only won by 30 votes! Evan has a small lead as it stands now, but with transfers taken into account it could well be worn down. Expect Kate to make a strong comeback when these kick in. Even so, I’d say Evan could just about edge the others out.

VP DCI David Martin has been hammering the campaign trail. This, coupled with his actual experience in the media departments, will lead to David getting the only first round win of this election (I reckon)

VP Education Despite an early lead, Dessie’s campaign trail seemed to go a bit cold in the second week; whereas DM-W was everywhere with his wolf cut out and cool social media gimmickry. They’re very close in our poll, with less than 1.5% between them.  We’ll see two Davids elected tonight.

President Shockingly, Jim has a 12 point lead over incumbent sabb David. Has Jim’s distinct anti-establishment attitude won the hearts and minds of our student body? Despite this, the election will be very close between PeeWee and David G. I can see the re-runners advantage re-electing David
