UPDATE: 20:03: A 20 year old man has been arrested in Winchester this evening and is said to be helping police with their enquiries.

One of the stab victims has been discharged from Southampton General Hospital “following treatment for a superficial wound”. The other “remains in hospital undergoing surgery” and “his condition is described as non life threatening.”

A city wide manhunt is under way after two men were stabbed at the Kimber Halls of Residence in Southampton City Centre this afternoon.

Two men, aged 19 and 21, are in a “serious” condition at Southampton General Hospital after receiving knife wounds to the chest and abdomen.

Ambulances were on scene just after 3PM and called the police to the location.

According to a bystander armed police were on scene and an area remains cordoned off.  A weapon has been recovered

Southampton Solent University are yet to comment.

Kimber Halls is home to over 170 students and is close to Southampton Solent University’s East Park Terrace Campus.

Acting Superintendent Craig Dibdin said:

We understand people will be alarmed by this incident but want to reassure them that officers from across the force are following active lines of inquiry in order to locate the offender. This is a fast paced investigation in its early stages and we will give as much information as we can as the investigation evolves.”
