As the Soton Tab reported over the weekend, a fire ripped through flat 6 of Romero Halls, Archers Road. Police swiftly arrested an 18 year old male, thought to be a student. Further investigation led to the arrest of a 21 year old male, thought to be a Southampton local. Both men have been bailed until the second of April, pending further investigation.
Detectives are working with fire investigators to ascertain the cause of the fire.
Students have reported seeing up to FIVE fire investigation teams on site at Romero over the past 2 days.
Anyone who has information who has not yet spoken to the police is asked to contact Shirley CID on 101 or the Crimestoppers charity anonymously on 0800 555 111.
