Feeling stressed with deadlines or exam revision? It seems we are doing it all wrong in the UK!

Universities in America and Canada are finding new ways to keep their students feeling calm and relaxed at stressful times of the academic year. It’s not just healthy eating or sleep you need to be getting but actually these alternative methods…

Need a “paws” from studying? Missing home comforts? Rent a puppy! If essay deadlines are getting too much you can hire a cute furry pet to keep you company and raise your spirits for just $15 an hour. You just need to transfer to Utah, University of Toronto or Yale University.

Volunteer of Therapeutic Paws of Canada, Barbara Kelly, says “They’re great stress busters,” and cuddling or playing with a puppy can lower your blood pressure and make you forget all those exam-time worries.

Puppies for Rent employee Bradley Corey said when he delivers he can hear the excited giggles and squeals from those inside the home. One happy student customer said:”It was easy and fun…better than going to a restaurant for the same amount of money.”

Student Gavin Jardine liked the idea so much he even arranged for dogs to visit his campus for several days leading up to exams, at Dalhousie University in Canada. Vice President of the Student Union, he added: “Mental health is a very serious issue that we’re trying to respond to on campus.”

Got allergies? Pets not your thing? Study in a library with INSIDE grass. At Cornell University in New York, things have been taken to a whole new level with grass being put into the inside of libraries and science buildings for students to lie down on when they feel it’s all too much.

In New Jersey, students are being treated with a ‘De-Stress Fest.’ On offer is belly dancing, yoga, massages and midnight pancakes.

Southampton, you’ve got a lot to live up to.
