A huge congratulations are in order for SUSU’s Showstoppers and Theatre Group, who’ve both stormed the Daily Echo’s curtain call awards with 15 nominations between them!

The Daily Echo are invited to most amateur performances across the all of Hampshire and Dorset and every year give awards for the best shows and individual performances that they’ve seen. Just being nominated is a huge achievement in itself and PA will find out the results at an official ceremony in January.

So without further ado, congratulations are in order to:

Alexander Curtis, Samuel Dobson & Joel Jackson:
Nominated as “Best Newcomers” for their roles in Theatre Group’s Vindice. The Echo said: “This ambitious play was the first written by Curtis who produced a quite extraordinary piece of theatre”.

Mark Hill:
Nominated as “Best Supporting Actor in a Musical”, Showstoppers- Spring Awakening, “he made all the parts his own”

Stephanie Amies:
Nominated as “Best Supporting Actress in a Musical”, Showstoppers- Spring Awakening, “Stephanie made every part her own and demonstrated superb acting skills”

Jez Roberts:
Nominated as: Best Supporting Actor in a Play, Theatre Group- Macbeth, “A particularly moving and dignified Macduff”

Vicky Caves and Sev Goddard:
Nominated as: Best Choreographer, Showstoppers- The Wedding Singer, “Stunning! Well drilled and imaginative”

Spring Awakening:
Nominated as: Best Musical or Opera, Showstoppers, “It flowed like the finest poetry, plucking emotions from the audience”

Alex ‘Teddy’ Clements:
Nominated as: Best Musical Director, Showstoppers- Spring Awakening, “Everyone delivered in this musical challenging and emotive production”

Toby Hasler-Winter:
Nominated as: Best Actor in a Musical, Showstoppers- The Wedding Singer, “His blossoming character was touching”

Jez Roberts:
Nominated as: Best Actor in a Musical, Showstoppers- Spring Awakening, “Charismatic genius!”

Emma Bryant:
Nominated as: Best Actress in a Musical, Showstoppers- Sunday in the Park with George, “An actress of rare talent, with a singing voice and looks that set her apart”

Cam Bevan:
Nominated as: Best Actor in a Shakespeare Play, Theatre Group- Macbeth, “Excellent as the weak-willed but ultimately murderous thane”

Emma Real-Davis:
Nominated as: Best Actress in a Shakespeare Play, Theatre Group- Macbeth, “A forceful rendering of this manipulative and scheming social climber”

Alex Bowen:
Nominated as: Best Director of a Musical or Opera, Showstoppers- Spring Awakening, “She created a sensitive, not to be missed show”

Alex Bray:
Nominated as: Best Director of a Shakespeare Play, Theatre Group- Macbeth, “A confident, stylish production with much to like in this gory tragedy”

Spring Awakening:
Nominated as: Production of the Year, Showstoppers, “The production delivered soulful singing, sharp choreography and sophisticated characters in this torrid coming-of-age tale”
