A small fire broke out in the Lloyds TSB bank in Portswood this morning.

A fire started in a light fixture at the Portswood branch of Lloyds TSB, opposite Sainsburys. Police and fire services were at the scene at around 10am to deal with the small electrical fire.

Alice James, a Southampton student, who was in Portswood earlier said:

They all sped past as I was walking down Portswood Road, and then when I got down there they were all blocking the road.

Hampshire Fire and Rescue told the Soton Tab that 2 fire engines attended the scene to deal with a small electrical fire and that no one was injured. Fortunately, this wasn’t a major incident.

One student who was outside the Mitre said:

There were loads of police cars and police tape everywhere, I thought there had been a bank robbery but it just turned out to be a fire.
