A man has been hospitalised after being assaulted outside Charcoal Grill kebab shop and the NatWest bank in Portswood.

Hampshire Constabulary have confirmed that a 41 year old bloke was punched to the ground and then kneed in the face as he left the kebab shop just after midnight. He was taken to Southampton General Hospital with a suspected broken cheek bone and a knocked out tooth.

One student who passed the crime scene on his way to work early this morning said:

Part of Portswood Road is covered in blood and has been cordoned off, looks like someone got f***** up last night.

CSI Portswood have described the attacker as a white male with dark brown hair and under the age of 30. After the attack he walked off with a blonde woman towards Gordon Avenue.
