This morning a quarter of Highfield campus was plunged into the stone-age after an internet outage.
Buildings 30, 34, 35, 36, 37, 27, 28, 29, 22 experienced no Internet, wireless or working telephones for several hours. The buildings affected included Hartley Library, disrupting the hundreds of students who set out early to compete for desk space to find that they could not use any internet resources.
iSolutions have said that the problem was caused by a power failure in the library hub room. This disruption has come at a bad time for all students, particularly with those who have looming dissertation deadlines.
One student told The Tab that a paper system was being used to record books which had been taken out on loan.
This event was not planned, unlike a certain time in January, but no doubt both bad timings have disrupted many students and staff. Perhaps it was just a ploy to get unproductive students off of Facebook.
