After last year’s less than popular rebrand, SUSU have been forced into another re-jig of their brand identity.

The move has been triggered by complaints by international students from Malayasia and Indonesia, where “susu” means milk in the Malay language. In order to prevent any confusion SUSU is to be renamed USSU, a completely meaningless word which still rolls off the tongue.

Arvin Alaf, SUSU International Officer, told The Tab:

On order from the Equality and Diversity department, SUSU USSU is constitutionally obliged to ensure no-one is offended or mildly distressed by anything during their time in Southampton. We even think the old name was the reason no one cares about “milk” elections

The new moniker is likely to please senior staff at the University of Southampton, who hate the institution being referred to as “Southampton University”, in fear of people confusing us with Solent.
