Around 10:45 this morning, 8 police officers armed with a battering ram raided a property on Westridge Road on suspicion of drug offences. A helicopter was overhead providing support.

Police have put up signs informing residents of a “drugs operation” in progress and are expected to conduct door to door enquiries.

The raid was part of a city-wide co-ordinated operation, codenamed Razorlight. According to police, over 150 officers were involved in raids on 10 addresses across Southampton.

Local residents have informed The Tab that the property is thought to be a “halfway house” for offenders and that it had been raided last year by court officers for non-payment of fines.

Westridge Road is situated behind Portswood high street and has a large student population; as does the adjacent Tennyson Road.
