In the more academic departments of our University, eye candy can be hard to come by. That’s why enterprising Computer Science students Josh Thompson and Adam Smith have set up ECSexy, a dating website aimed at students in the School of Electronics and Computer Science, but open to everyone with an @soton email address.

I spoke to Josh earlier today:

We started it in February to distract ourselves from our dissertations. We thought it would be funny to have a dating website for a department that is almost entirely male!

We left it for a while but when we added a Facebook like button interest skyrocketed. Over the last 24 hours we have gone from a dozen or so users to well over 100!

The website is designed with tongue firmly in cheek, with banners proclaiming endorsements from Kate Moss (with disclaimers saying she may never have heard of ECS) and the ability to ask out other users on a date. You can rate fellow members on a hot or not basis and check your compatibility. The site is in its infancy but with the upsurge in membership today many new features have been added.

ECSexy seems to be the best way to find a bigger brained companion in Southampton, so check it out for yourselves!

ECSexy requires a University of Southampton email address and nothing more!
