Andrew Iain JardineIt has been announced in a surprise result that Sam Ling has won the election for Southampton University Student’s Union President this year.
Following closely behind Sam, popular favourite to win Jess Staff came in at second place with Jazz Sherman and Charlotte Davison not far behind.
Many people considered Sam to be an outsider compared to the popular Jess and Jazz candidates, however in an unexpected move it seems that voters based their decisions on policies and suitability for the role, rather than popularity, as is the usual case.
