Bevois Valley set for SILENT DISCO SHOWDOWN

Next week we will see two of Portswood’s biggest nightclubs clubs go head to head with competing silent discos.

Next week we will see two of Portswood’s biggest nightclubs clubs go head to head with competing silent discos. Both Jesters and Sobar are to host silent discos one after the other.

Wednesday will bring us the first one in Sobar hosted by the wakeboarding club. While some wait in excitement, others have already miffed it off, as some of Sobar’s past Silent Discos have be rather unsuccessful. However, students argued that they prefer the music in Sobar, who will be hosting 3 DJ’s at the event (even though the headphones only have two channels).

Sobar will have 3 DJ's.... and two channels.

Others have commented that extreme sports clubs operate in a ‘bubble’ and outsiders aren’t welcomed. It is set to be a great success and I wish the Wakeboarding club the best of luck in their event. They also have a midnight ‘boat race’, where “SUWake drinking army will battle for the pride of Boat Race champions”.

The second one will be at Jesters on the Thursday hosted by Jesters themselves (Jesters’ first silent disco EVER). For many clubbers who haven’t been to a silent disco before, Jesters is probably the best place to lose your silent disco virginity with its more accepting attitude.

The tickets are £3.50, 50p cheaper than Sobar’s and the plan is for the outside to be turned into a dance floor with disco and UV lights, heaters and a DJ on the roof. Jesters hopes that if successful, the event will open a window for more silent discos there. They even have a late licence to stay open till 3AM so you won’t stop until you drop.

With the term coming to a close, ending it with a Silent Disco will be a class night out whichever you choose…Why not choose both?
