Double shooting near Bramall Lane kills former Sheffield student

Police are appealing for information following the incident


On Saturday 10 April at 9:40pm, Police were called to Clough Road, near Bramall Lane, following reports of shots fired.

Emergency services arrived at the scene and immediately pronounced a 31-year-old former Sheffield student dead from “life-threatening injuries consistent with firearms discharge.”

The man has since been named as Khuram Javed, a Solicitor and father-of-two in Sheffield. Tributes have poured in on social media for “such a lovely person with an infectious smile.”

The Sheffield Star spoke to Detective Chief Inspector, Michael Hakin, who said: “The investigation is still in its early stages, but our enquiries continue at pace. A significant number of officers remain in the area.

“I am acutely aware that this incident may be distressing to the local community. Please be assured that we have deployed additional resources to the area, and our specialist team continues to carry out enquiries to locate those responsible.

“If you have any concerns, please do speak to our officers out on patrol.”

South Yorkshire Police have urged anyone with information to come forward by calling 101 and quoting incident number 984 of April 10, or by calling Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
