In videos: Hundreds gather in Sheffield to stage sit down #KilltheBill protest

Roads were blocked off outside the police station

Hundreds of people staged a sit down #KilltheBill protest outside Sheffield’s Snig Hill police station.

The demonstration was held to protest against the new Police, Crime, Sentencing and Court Bill passed by parliament last week and sponsored by Home Secretary, Priti Patel.

Crowds gathered at Devonshire Green and then marched along West Street towards the police station.

Outside the station, protesters blocked roads as they sat down in solidarity to object against the new police bill.

A similar sit-down demonstration was held outside Sheffield’s peace gardens later on too.

The Sheffield demonstration follows other #KilltheBill protests held across the UK. In Bristol last weekend, footage of violence and disorder between protesters and the police was streamed across social media platforms.

Yesterday afternoon, #KilltheBill protests were also held in Manchester, Brighton and Bath.

There was no reported violence at Sheffield Demonstration.
