Sheffield University gets best ever Stonewall LGBT employer ranking

It’s the second best uni nationally

The University of Sheffield has gained its best ever place in Stonewall’s list of 100 most LGBT-friendly employers.

The institution ranks 11th in the UK in this year’s table, released today, the second highest university in the country behind Cardiff.

The annual list, set up in 2005, assesses workplace culture for lesbian, gay, bi and trans staff based on survey entries.

Last year the university ranked 23rd. Just over 500 employers entered for a spot on the 2020 list.

Prof Gill Valentine, deputy vice-chancellor, said she was “delighted” at the news and said staff “continue to bring about culture change and develop an inclusive environment”.
