A vigil for the Pittsburgh victims will take place in Sheffield tomorrow

11 were murdered at a synagogue yesterday

A vigil will take place in Sheffield tomorrow to honour the memory of those killed in the Pittsburgh synagogue shooting yesterday.

11 people lost their lives in the shooting, which is thought to be the worst antisemitic attack in recent American history.

The vigil will be hosted by Sheffield Jewish Society, and will run from 7.30pm to 8pm.

It will take place on or near to the university campus, with the location set to be confirmed by 3pm tomorrow.

The event description reads:

"On the 27th of October, 11 people were murdered in a synagogue in Pittsburgh, simply for being Jewish.

"Please join us to honour their memory and show solidarity with the Jewish community. This event is open to all."

Robert Bowers has now been charged with 29 criminal counts, including murder, in relation to the Pittsburgh shooting.

It has today been reported that his social media posts are full of antisemitic comments. Statistics show that antisemitism is on the rise globally, and has doubled in Britain over the last six years.
