A man is in a serious condition after being stabbed outside Mulberry Tavern last night

A man who was stabbed outside Mulberry Tavern last night is still in a serious condition in hospital.

Police were called to the Arundel Gate pub at 6:05pm after they received reports of the stabbing.

They are now wanting to speak to witnesses and anyone with relevant information. The Mulberry Tavern has been cordoned off as officers try to establish details of the incident.

A spokesman for South Yorkshire Police has issued a statement, saying: "The 38-year-old was found with two stab wounds, and was taken to hospital, where he currently remains in a serious condition.

"The incident is thought to have occurred outside of the Mulberry Tavern and extensive enquiries are now ongoing in the area to identify the offender and speak to key witnesses.

"There is currently a cordon in place and officers remain in the area as they continue to ascertain the circumstances around the incident and provide reassurance to members of the public.

"Anyone with information is asked to call 101, quoting incident number 835 of December 9, 2017."
