Revealed: The most unhygienic takeaways in Sheffield

This will put you off your cheesy chips

In case you hadn't heard, takeaways aren't hailed as the most hygienic places in the world – but that doesn't stop the alcohol-fuelled kebab cravings after a heavy one on West Street.

With this in mind, we set out to find Sheffield's greasiest, grimiest eateries.

The Food Standards Agency issues a rating out of 5 as a way to rank every bar, restaurant, and takeaway in the country, with 0 meaning "urgent improvement is necessary", 1 "major improvements necessary", 3 "generally satisfactory" and 5 "very good".

Even Sheffield royalty didn’t score high, with Sean Bean’s nephew’s chippy, the Broomhill Friery, scoring a bang average 3 out of 5. Balti King and Aslans did a bit better, both scoring a 4.

At the bottom of the table was Adnan’s Fried Chicken on West Street, which scored a 1 and was slammed by one Google reviewer who called it a “horrible place with disgusting staff and food”.

But lets be honest – next time you're pissed as a yak and craving cheesy chips, you'll still eat at all these places.
