University of Sheffield and Sheffield Hallam both awarded ‘Silver’ by TEF

Both the University of Sheffield and Sheffield Hallam have been awarded Silver by the government’s “Teaching Exellence Framework” panel.

In being awarded silver, it shows that both universities deliver high quality teaching, learning and outcomes for its students, and they consistently exceed rigorous national quality requirements for UK higher education.

The panel, which is chaired by Chris Husbands, also known as the vice chancellor of Sheffield Hallam, consists of experts who judge Universities based on the quality of teaching, the learning environments which they provide, and the educational and professional outcomes of students.

In total, around 50 per cent of Universities were awarded silver, whilst 26 per cent were awarded gold and 24 per cent were awarded bronze.

Other universities awarded silver included the University of Bristol, Cardiff University and the University of York.
