Death of Sheffield student at Hallam Towers ‘unexplained’

The death of geography student, Thomas Rhodes, is being treated as “unexplained” by police.

The 19-year-old from Leicestershire was found at Hallam Towers, a derelict building near to the Ranmoor halls of residence.

His body was discovered at 4.15pm on 26th March, the weekend before the university finished for Easter.

Police want to speak to anyone who can help them establish Thomas’ final movements before he died.

Coroners ruled that he died from injuries consistent with a fall.

A University of Sheffield spokesperson said: “We are deeply saddened by the death of one of our students and our thoughts are with his family and friends at this extremely difficult time. The University is working to support everyone affected by this very upsetting incident.”
