The Ridge is shutting down at the end of this year

Laura BellIf the closure of The Night Kitchen wasn’t enough upsetting news for one week, it will come as a heartbreaking blow to some to hear that The Ridge, Ranmoor’s beloved watering hole, is closing at the end of this academic year.
The Ridge had a renaissance last year, as they saw a rise in trade, due to their infamous pizza ovens. But tragically the iconic bar’s popularity was fleeting, leaving them no choice but to close.
This devastating news leaves us questioning, where will the residents of Ranmoor spend their time now?
Gone but not forgotten
Future plans for the bar are not concrete, but currently it is thought that the upstairs is turning into a gym, and the downstairs is still in question, but potentially a social space for Resident Life.
The money now being put into The Ridge is going to be used to extend campus eating in other ways, for example to help fund the new Hendersons Relish pub opening, and the University Arms which is no longer shutting down.
Past Ranmoor residents, get down to The Ridge before it’s too late to pay your respects and relive your fresher days. It may have been slightly tragic and naff, but that’s what gave it it’s charm. RIP the Ridge.
