Nicola Sturgeon, First Minister of Scotland, is to host the annual SPERI (Sheffield Political Economy Research Institute) lecture on November 7th.

Sturgeon’s talk has been entitled, “Scotland and the UK – economic policy after the EU referendum” and will be held in the Octagon.

Nicola Sturgeon has come into the public eye since becoming the SNP Leader and overseeing the Scottish Independence Referendum in 2014. She also played a key role in the 2015 general election.

The event has already proven popular among students, having already sold out tickets since the release on October 5th.

Professor Tony Payne, Co-Director of SPERI has commented, ”Over the coming years the First Minister will play a crucial role in forging a new relationship between Scotland, the UK and Europe, and addressing some of the major political and economic questions arising from this. We are delighted to welcome her to Sheffield to give our Annual Lecture”.
