The fire alarm went off in Pop Tarts and people were not happy

“Pop tarts on fire”

The fire alarm went off in Pop Tarts last night leaving many pop fans waiting out in the cold for around 25 minutes.

People were merrily dancing to “Mambo No.5” when all the lights went on and the music stopped. Confused party-goers carried on singing the song believing it to be part of the night, until security and bar staff quickly began ushering people out of the venue.

People gathered at the back of the union whilst they waited further instruction. Despite it only being 2am, many took this as their signal to go home or head on to Balti King, whilst others waited in the drizzly, autumnal weather.

Rather ironically, Sheffield Engineers had attended the event dressed as firemen which left some drunken merrymakers in a state of confusion as to how they got there so fast.

Gangs of lads began singing “Pop Tarts on Fire” to the tune of Will Grigg’s, whilst other unhappy punters chanted “We want our money back”. The force of people trying to get back inside created a “mosh pit” at the front of the crush with people shoving each other out of the way, but it wasn’t too long before health and safety workers were allowing people back into the building.

Talking to a member of the security team, smoke had filled a room at the back of the venue, but the cause of it was not yet known.
