Stagecoach bus fare back to £1

They tried to get away with charging £1.20

Sheffield bus company Stagecoach have reduced their bus price from a sinister £1.20 to the classic £1.

The changes have been implemented since Wednesday October 5th, following an outrage from Sheffield students.

The student vs. Stagecoach war has come to a victorious end

Stagecoach hiked their prices up on September 12th, when students were left bereft upon offering their last pound to catch a ride home.

It’s hard to say whether the financial burden on students has caused Stagecoach to back down, or the increased tension on board – many students were at an increased risk of having to ask bus drivers for change, not having the crucial 20p extra in their pockets.

The betrayal was real

At any rate, competitor First Buses must have enjoyed the extra custom, offering a safe Poundland-esque haven to students in the meanwhile.

The question thus remains whether we can forgive and forget, or will the 120 to Fullwood bring back too many memories?
