Dizzee Rascal among first Tramlines headliners announced

Mercury Prize winner and all round music sensation Dizzee Rascal has been announced as one of the first headliners for this years Tramlines. 

Dizzee will be kicking off the weekend on the main stage in Ponderosa on the Friday, with Saturday and Sunday’s headline acts yet to be announced.

Local hero Toddla T will be returning to the festival to take over the O2 Academy, with Goldie, Field Music, Young Fathers, Hinds, and Dawn Penn also making appearances over the weekend.

Last year saw over 100,000 flock to the Steel City to see the likes of Basement Jaxx, Slaves, Martha Reeves and Buzzcocks.

Dizzee will be headlining the Friday

Tramlines Festival Director Sarah Nulty said: “We are really excited to return with Tramlines, for what is now our eighth year. Having Dizzee to headline the Main Stage on Friday will be an incredible way to start the weekend.

“We’ve got some great headliners yet to announce plus a great mix of international and local talent still to come and we’re all looking forward to sharing what is set to be our biggest year yet.”

Now in its eighth year, the festival will be taking place across various sites in the city from Friday 22nd July to Sunday 24th. Daytime tickets start at £23, with a full weekend pass just £42.
