We’re getting a 1,000ft waterslide in town this summer

For real

The council have confirmed that a giant, 1000ft inflatable water slide is coming to Graves Park this summer.

Organisers Slide The City are yet to confirm exact dates, but they’ve held a multitude of similar events with success, and are also coming to several other UK cities over the coming months, including Manchester and London.

The 300m long slide will be open to anyone over the age of 5, at the relatively reasonable price of £10 per single ride, or £35 for unlimited rides an hour before it opens.

Organisers say: “Slide the City is a family friendly slip-and-slide water party event.”

They added: “There will be live music, food, drinks, water, and of course the biggest slip-and-slide that you’ve ever seen.

“Don’t worry, we’ve got it padded. This slide’s got more cushion than your grandpa’s orthopedic shoes.

7,000 people in Sheffield signed a petition for a waterslide to come to town, and after the multitude of “scam” Facebook events recently, promising extravagent open air cinemas, Total Wipeout courses, and giant water fights.

It’s a welcome addition to see something actually happening.
