Jump Around Thursdays moved to Code

Although vodka doubles are only £1.50 now

After 9 years of Cheeky Vimtos and inflatable fun, Plug’s Jump Around Thursdays are being moved to next door club Code.

The popular night has been replaced by a new Plug party “Bonkers”, which, complete with some Year 8 school disco-esque advertising, claims to be “bigger, better and even more bonkers”. Great.

Jump Around promoter Neil Midgley explained the reason for the move: “The decision to leave Plug was mutual. After 9 years Plug wanted the opportunity to have complete control of their Thursday night, I completely understood that and we agreed to stop Jump Around after the Christmas party on 18th Dec.

It was great while it lasted

“Initially I thought it would stop for good or maybe we’d do one off parties. It was only after word spread in clubland that the night had finished and loads of venues asked about moving it to them that I realised it seemed daft for such a busy and successful night to stop.

“Moving to Code was the only offer we took seriously. We love the venue and we get on really well with the guys at Eat My Disco (who own Code), and they are really passionate about working hard to make the night a big success.”

Students have greeted the news with a mixed response.

“I don’t get why Plug would want to replace such a successful and popular student night with something that sounds so, completely naff,” said second year Civil Engineer Calum O’Keefe.

Chloe Maycock, a third year Economist, said: “I dont know of any Uni students that go to Code. At least if they do they don’t admit. It seems to be unspoken Hallam territory.”

The Code Jump Around launch night is on the 29th January, and will feature the same resident DJ’s and Cheeky Vimto’s, aswell as vodka doubles at the reduced price of £1.50.
