Morrisons rumoured to be taking over Broomhill Spar

Thank God

| UPDATED

Rumours have been rife on the Broomhill grapevine after Eurospar’s mystery closure last week.

Residents could be seen wildly flailing their limbs with joy and embracing one another in sheer elation last week, as builders bordered up the sorry state of a local supermarket that was Eurospar.

Eurospar is no more

Aside from charging around £19 for a singular battery fed chicken breast, some other common qualms with the store was the poor lighting and vegetables that looked like they’d been grown in a nuclear reactor.

Whispers in the University community having suggested everything from a Balti King Super Restaurant  to a custom made Dan Bean palace to be taking its Fulwood Road place.

Even better comes the hint of a new Morrisons Local, a much needed third supermarket on the 300 meter strip of road.

Second-year Tom said: “To be honest, I’m ecstatic. Something never quite sat right with me about Eurospar, it just never smelt legit.

“I’m crossing all my fingers this is true and that they put a a salad bar in the Morrisons.”

The planning permission notice outside the former Eurospar suggests we can expect to see “alterations to the shop front”. How exciting.

Morrisons Press Office are yet to confirm the taking over of the store, or the appearance of the salad bar.

More to follow.
