The TabActivities candidate Joe Hayward has fallen victim of a smear campaign on Twitter.
Allegations were voiced by @SheffAlum that Hayward was forced to quit the LGBT committee two years ago after sexually assaulting a fresher.
He has vehemently denied the accusation as ‘utter rubbish’ and ‘a lie.’

LGBTSU’s Trans Welfare Officer Huw Birch said that Joe had left the committee over a disagreement about his role.
“We as a committee had some disagreements about how much freedom his role should have, as he wished to have more autonomy while we wanted him to work more closely with the Inclusions Officer, and then he left on his own accord.
“I was not aware of any sexual assault allegations.”
Other former committee members leant their support.

We attempted to contact the anonymous @SheffAlum to ask for evidence of these claims, but they failed to respond. The account has only ever sent tweets regarding Hayward and the allegations.
Hayward refused to comment any further on the allegations.
