Lace up for spring

Queenie Mak shows you the subtlety and sexiness of lace, and why it is a must have this spring

Spring is almost here, so defuzz those legs, it’s time to start bearing some flesh.

However, the chill in the air means it’s not time for shorts and t-shirts just yet. So your happy medium has to be lace. It’s great for revealing some skin, but in a more subtle way.

But the one golden rule to pull off this look is: ‘LESS IS MORE’.

Laid back:

Pair lace shorts with a loose and oversize top to create a laid back style.

Don’t: Match it with a vest or a cropped top as this shows too much skin. Save that combo for a night out or when you’re on the pull.

All in black

Urban:

Tuck in your half- lace top into tailored shorts to outline a sharper silhouette for an urban chic.

Do: Match it with any denim items to bring out an even edgier look.

Tailored shorts help to elongate legs

Sophisticated:

Contrast your soft lace white top with a layered black skirt for a sharp, sophisticated look.

Do: play around with different lengths of skirts/dresses for varied tones.

Peplum skirts are great for creating curves

Playful:

Be bold and mix and match. Place a see through lace top over a one piece to layer up and texturize the outfit for a fabulous finish.

Don’t: Place a contrasting colour one piece beneath the lace top, as it will complicate the visual effect of the look.

Add a light parka to finish the ‘playful’ look
