Hallam and Crookes Valley Park are notorious gay cruising sites

Hallam-bashing takes on a whole new meaning as the Tab uncovers Sheffield’s most popular cruising spots.

The average uni student might think Sheffield Hallam’s buildings contain little more than crayons and broken dreams, but nothing could be further from the truth.

Sheffield Hallam’s toilets are some of the most popular gay cruising sites in Sheffield, a new database has revealed.

The ‘cruisiest spots’ are cubicles 2 and 3 in Sheffield Hallam’s University Building first floor loos, as there are some convenient peepholes between the two. If you enter from Pond Street, you’re in the right place for a cracking good time.

The best time to show yourself is in the afternoon ‘after 4pm’. Cruisers will get a 3-hour window of fun before the building closes at 7pm.

Have you used the loos in this building lately…?

Cruising Gays, the world’s largest online gay cruising database, reveals that some people are getting their jollies in unexpected venues at both Hallam and the University of Sheffield.

Both Crookes Valley Park and the first floor of Sheffield Hallam’s University building are popular sites for cruisers, with Hallam receiving a prestigious four out of five stars for their facilities.

Uni of students won’t miss out on the action as both Crookes Valley Park and Weston Park are fantastic for a bit of cottaging. The site says the area is ‘a large park with plenty of hidden, sheltered areas for activity.’

If Cruisers were wondering why the scenic Weston Park is not the venue of choice, reviewers have helpfully said that ‘much of the action from next door has moved here after the other park’s cruising area was closed of and the bushes cut back’.

Crookes Valley Park has always been popular for cruising, just a different type.

The best times to visit are between 11pm and 3am, and it’s incredibly popular with students. Cruisers say that the place gets pretty busy ‘after big gay nights such as Climax’.

Crookes Valley is rumoured to be a hive of activity when Climax finishes.

Third year Modern Languages student Lizzie, who is currently staying with friends in Crookes, says that she never noticed anything suspicious about the park walking back from the library in the early hours ‘although I’m not surprised. It’s all very sheltered down there.’

‘As long as they clean up after themselves and don’t make a mess it’s alright isn’t it? I don’t want my parents to see used condoms etc all over the park when they visit me but at the end of the day it’s each to their own. As long as they respect the grounds and aren’t doing it all hours what’s the problem?’

If you’re planning on doing the nasty in the great outdoors, the Tab suggests you wrap up!

The website offers friendly advice to those with a passion for cruising and nature. Visitors are encouraged to use condoms and dispose of their wrappers correctly to respect the environment and keep the venue alive for future exploits.
