Cutest gosling since Ryan hatched in Sheffield halls

Uni pets are the craze sweeping the nation as students hide some of Britain’s cutest animals from the prying eyes of kill-joy university officials.

Now one Sheffield student may have topped the lot – by hatching and rearing his very own goose in Endcliffe.

Sadly Sebastian the gosling has grown too large for his uni accommodation and in a heartbreaking turn of events has moved back to his home farm in Suffolk.

Sebastian’s surrogate father Olly Edwards told the Tab: “I live on a farm in Suffolk and I always hatch something at home.

“I took my incubator and some goose eggs with me to uni.”

The zoology student also revealed that he ate the rest of the goose eggs leaving poor Seb an only child, but he did put the incubator to good use – hatching some duck eggs he bought on eBay and distributing them around campus.

Sebastian was a vital part of university life, accompanying students at work and play as our exclusive photos of the cheeky fowl show.

Olly also said that having Seb around wasn’t all plain sailing: “He was never toilet trained so we had to follow him around with some toilet paper.”

“The bigger he got the bigger the mess got too.”

Animal lovers everywhere can take heart from Sebastian’s fate.

Although too big to live with the students who adopted him, Seb is back home on the farm with his Mum who Olly named Ryan Gosling.

Ryan Gosling (Olly’s goose, not the Hollywood actor) was named before his owner knew the sex of the bird and was delighted to have Sebastian back by her side.
