The back gate will be open 24/7 next term

Lol if you still have to walk round after the sesh until then

The SU have announced that the back gate at the bottom of campus will be open 24 hours next term, with College Card-controlled access to keep campus secure.

However, they say this is likely to be in action from October 2017, as planning permission is likely to be required. There have been a lot of noise complaints from residents this year, so the SU have warned students to be respectful in regards to noise levels when walking home this way after a night out. They have said that this will be tightly managed by stewards at the gate. They have also threatened that this decision to keep the gate open 24/7 can be reversed if students do not behave themselves.

The SU have said in their announcement: “This is a massive result for the Students’ Union… The plans are still in the works, with many more updates to come, but we wanted to announce this big news to make sure you’re kept in the loop with how things develop. This outcome is the product of years of work – from students calling for change through petitions and our Bright Ideas platform, to sabbatical officers having productive discussions with the College to make this happen.”
