The SU Election results were revealed last night

A record 25.35% of you voted this year

The results are in, and the 2017/18 Sabbatical Officers have been elected. Last night your dedicated Royal Holloway Tab reporters made it out to the SU to do some first hand reporting… and catch some free Monster Munch.

Pandora from Kiss FM announced who had been elected, as well as SU motions that had been taken to referendum. Motions to boycott the NSS and to campaign against the council’s plan to turn off street lights after a certain time were carried, and they are now part of SU policy.

The SU say a total of 2556 students voted in this year’s SU Elections. With five sabbatical officers, six part-time roles and two referenda questions being decided, students cast 14,953 individual votes.

Natasha Barret, Pippa Gentry and Steff Milne were all re-elected into the roles of President, Vice President Societies & Media and Vice President Sport for the second year running.

The Sport Steff slogan worked its magic a second time

The new Sabbs elected this year include Clement Jones who was elected into the new role of Vice President for Education, and Willow Wong who has become the VP for Welfare and Diversity.

The new Sabb officers will take up their roles alongside their teammates in July.

The night also included £1 VK’s between midnight and 1am, due to a record number of student votes this year. Free packets of crisps and Haribo were thrown from the stage at one point in the night. How else would RoHo elect who runs the SU than with a lot of VK and free food?
