Royal Holloway in the top 60 universities in Europe

Now we just need to beat Teesside in the Summer Ball competition

Royal Holloway has been ranked the 58th best university in Europe according to latest Times Higher Education rankings.

While U.S. News published rankings five months ago which suggested we were behind Reading in the UK, the far more reputable THE rankings put us 22 places above them in Europe, with Birmingham our closest UK rival in 53rd place.

Universities were ranked on their teaching environment, research environment, citations (research influence), industry income and international outlook.

The data is taken from 800 universities in over 70 countries.

Yet students don’t seem to be too bothered by the news. History student, Romily said: “I looked at the rankings for my subject as a starting point but didn’t think of them as having too much importance when deciding my university.”

Psychology student Jorge said: “I looked at the university ranking for psychology before coming here and saw it was in the top 15. It was part of my decision to make Royal Holloway my first choice but I don’t think it will make much difference to job prospects after I graduate.”

Meanwhile our neighbours and old sports rivals Surrey sit in the 131-140 category of the list, if we can beat them at this maybe we’ve got a chance to beat Teesside for the Summer Ball competition. #Pimpmysummerballrhul
