Where’s the best place to find eligible men at RoHo?

‘Look in the gutter – that’s where I found mine’

Royal Holloway has not been a women’s university for 70 years, so why is it still so deprived of men? We’re not even hunting for boyfriends, just males who are neither fuckboys nor too shy to speak to us. Male company is definitely lacking at RoHo and it’s a tragic epidemic. Other unis take the piss out of our imbalanced gender ratio, and they’re quite right to.

Unsurprisingly, Prince Charming will not be waiting for you at the VK bar this Wednesday. Don’t make the mistake of thinking that flirting your way to the front will work, it’s not worth it. You’ll just be followed around for the rest of the night being asked to dance, or worse, to “go upstairs”. We all know what happens “upstairs”.

We asked some girls where they thought men could be found at Royal Holloway (turns out you have to look quite hard).

“I’d actually really like to know the answer to this question. I’ve had to outsource my pulling to other universities.”

“I have no idea! I can tell you where they’re not  – the SU. Maybe the gym? But I don’t go so I can’t speak from experience.”

“I’ve just given up and embraced the single life. I don’t need a man to buy me these £2 open toe sandals from Lidl and I’m fine with that.”

“I’ve been asked out in the library a few times, actually. One time I was rushing to meet a deadline and a guy approached me at the printer, asking if I wanted to go to Crosslands later. I was so stressed I think I shouted my rejection in his face!”

“I think I saw one near the back gate?”

Have a scout around Founders and Bedford (before anti-social, stressed out hours) and tell me if I’m wrong, but more often than not this is where the eligible, hard working bachelors come to nest. Oh, you’re well dressed, able to make eye contact AND reading Hardy? Marry me.
