This rugby team’s ‘Tears in Heaven’ cover will break your heart

Rugby lads do have souls

Forget everything you thought you knew about university rugby. Forget casual misogyny. Forget homoerotic initiations. Forget lad culture.

Because Royal Holloway’s rugby side has just demolished all these stereotypes with a stunning rendition of Eric Clapton’s ‘Tears in Heaven.’

Featuring expert vocals, flute-playing muses and more tweed than you can shake your over-privileged fists at, this beautiful cover will melt your heart.

Club president Dominic Stevens, the producer of the video, said: “We have sold almost £1000 worth of calendars already, with the proceeds going to Prostate Cancer Research UK.

“We had a lot of fun filming it, it’s a bit cheeky and it’s for a really good cause.

“One of our guys, CJ Porter-Thaw, was in a child choir singing Tears of Heaven around ten years ago so I think he got a bit emotional looking back.”

The rugby boys also shot a saucy calendar, including the obligatory inappropriate lineout shot. Check it out:
