BREAKING: Firefighters called to a second blaze in Gunwharf Quays
More than thirty firefighters were tackling the blaze
At 1:40pm this afternoon thirty firefighters from Southsea Fire Station tackled a large blaze on the seventh floor in a block of flats, which are located in Gunwharf Quays. Hampshire Fire and Rescue have confirmed that six fire engines in total were sent to The Crescent.
It’s been said the fire was caused due to a resident leaving their iron switched on. However, residents were evacuated from the flats safely and the fire was extinguished at 2:50pm.

But, this isn’t the first time a fire has broken out in Gunwharf Quays this year. Less than three months ago, a kitchen fire broke out in the flats situated above Tesco causing a huge amount of damage to the building.
A section of Gunwharf was cordoned off by Hampshire Fire and Rescue this afternoon, but it has been confirmed no one was injured in this accident.
