Oxford has come sixth in the QS world university rankings

We haven’t moved since last year

The QS university rankings for 2018 are out, and Oxford remains firmly in sixth place – only one spot behind Cambridge.

MIT (the Massachusetts Institute of Technology) is still number one, and Stanford and Harvard have retained their second and third place spots. The California Institute of Technology came fourth, and Cambridge narrowly beat us to fifth place.

Other English universities also did well – UCL and Imperial came sixth and seventh respectively, and KCL and Edinburgh were joint 23rd.

The universities are judged on six factors – academic reputation being the most important, and then employer reputation, faculty/student ratio, citations per faculty, international faculty ratio, and international student ratio.
