Three per cent of Oxford students will be a victim of violent or sexual assault

Three per cent of Oxford students will be victim of violent and sexual crime according to new statistics.

The Complete University Guide took the number of crimes reported from July 2015 to June 2016 per one thousand residents within student areas. These crimes include burglary, robbery and violence and sexual offences. They found Oxford University had a total score of less than four per cent for all crimes reported. Three per cent of people are likely to be a victim of violence and sexual offences. While burglary and robbery rates are at less than one per cent.

Oxford students are two times more likely to be the victim of violent and sexual crime compared to students at Oxford Brookes and more likely to be a victim of burglary or robbery . In 2015 a robber who broke into five Oxford colleges and made off with £3000 worth of goods was jailed.

These statistics are based on all residents and not just students, the results are taken within wards or electoral divisions weighted by student population.
