Oxford ranked in the top 10 unis in the world

We’re also second best in the UK

Oxford is the seventh best university in the world according to the Shanghai Rankings released this week.

The new league table published by the Academic Ranking of World Universities ranked Harvard as the best with Stanford picking up second place. Out of the UK institutions, Oxford were beaten into second place by Cambridge, who were ranked fourth best globally.

Oxford beat other top UK universities such as UCL (17th), Imperial (22nd), Manchester (35th), Edinburgh (41st) and King’s who came 50th. This year’s results show a slight improvement for Oxford, who came 10th last year.

Oxford have been ranked around the top 10 since the Shanghai Rankings were introduced in 2003, and have been beaten into second best UK institution by Cambridge every time.
