OxStu thought Stormzy was Skepta

That’s not me

The Oxford Student has confused Skepta with his fellow grime MC Stormzy in a piece reviewing Skepta’s appearance at the O2 Academy last week.

Skepta, a member of UK grime collective Boy Better Know, performed at the O2 Academy in Oxford last week.

The OxStu described Skepta’s efforts as “Bringing the rave to Oxford”.

The Tottenham MC has been working on a new album, in the midst of a UK-wide grime renaissance.

This is Skepta

Stormzy, on the other hand, is an MC from Thornton Heath in South London.

Following a swift rise to fame in grime circles with his “Wicked Skengman”  series of freestyles, Stormzy won Best Grime Act at the MOBO Awards last year.

This is obviously not Skepta

A self-proclaimed child of grime, Stormzy also performed at the O2 in Oxford earlier in October.

i-D at Vice confirms this picture is actually of Stormzy

The OxStu review is no longer available online. Awkward.

Speaking to one reader who spotted the error OxStu said: “Hi Xav – we noticed this issue just after going to print, when we weren’t able to make any changes, and had already flagged it up to make an apology in the next issue.

“We had a last minute issue with the picture of Skepta we were going to put in that position, and ended up changing it.

“The image was incorrectly named in our files, and we failed to check it over before sending it off.

“Obviously we’d like to apologise for what was an unacceptable mistake, and the responsibility lies entirely with the editors (the author of the piece had no involvement with the image at all).”
