Camera is closing down

And life will never be the same

Oxford nightlife favourite Camera is officially closing its doors this Saturday.

The club has been open since 2009 and has served over half a million people in that time.

Stefan, a Camera spokes person, told The Tab: “Yes the news is true, I’m afraid. Camera is closing down and we’re all quite sad about it here.

“There were times when the club was extremely busy and vibrant but they didn’t last.

“In the end, Camera didn’t provide what Oxford needs in terms of clubbing.”

It’s all over

Stefan confirmed a new club would rise from Camera’s ashes: “Yes, a new concept will be opening up. It’s going to be fresh and it’s going to be vibrant.

“We’re going to provide a great experience for Oxford students, Brookes students and locals. We’re excited to put a new team together.”

Patrick Chambers, who studies French and Italian said: “Well I think Camera was always destined to fail as it didn’t tap in to what the majority of Oxford students were looking for.

“It wanted to present itself as a classy club, with expensive champagne and vodka behind the bar etc, when in reality that might work in London, but not in Oxford. All students seem to want is cheap drinks, a relaxed atmosphere and relatively popular music”

Camera’s official closing party will take place this Saturday.
