Body found close to University Parks thought to be that of Jed Allen

A body has been found close to Trinity College sports ground


Police have found a body that they believe to be Jed Allen.

They found the body in woodland near Marston Road, close to Trinity College sports ground.

Members of the public reported finding the body at just before 5pm this afternoon.

Detective Superintendent Chris Ward revealed that he is satisfied the body is that of Jed Allen.

Police were searching for the the 21-year-old in connection with the murder of a family in Didcot.

Allen was a groundskeeper at Oxford University.

Police were searching for him after the bodies of a man, woman and six-year-old girl were found dead in their home in Didcot, 10 miles south of the town.

100 police were searching Oxford University Parks – less than a mile from where the body was found.

Officers say they are not looking for anyone else in connection with the murders.

In a statement Detective Superintendent Chris Ward said: “Just before 5 o’clock this evening members of the public reported finding the body of a man in a wooded area in marts ton road in Oxford.

“This is an area that had not previously been searched by the police as a result of this investigation.

“Whilst no formal identification has taken place, I am satisfied that this is the body of Jed Allen who I had previously named as a suspect in this investigation.

“Members of all of the victims’ families have been informed and they are being supported by specially trained officers.

“Whilst the investigation into this murder will continue, I am not seeking anybody else in connection with the offence.

“I would like to offer my condolences to all of the families of the victims in this tragic case.”
