The hunt for a man wanted in connection for the murder of a family has shut down Oxford University’s parks.

Jed Allen, 21, was a groundskeeper at Oxford University. Police have said they want to speak to Allen urgently after the bodies of a man, woman and six-year-old girl were found dead in their home in Didcot, 10 miles south of the town.

Their search has lead to the closure of the 70 acre parks next to Keble College and Lady Margaret Hall. They will be shut for the remainder of the day.

Police believe the former uni worker is related to the deceased.

Detective Superintendent Chris Ward said the search for the man, who is six foot tall, stocky and has a distinctive spider tattoo on his left hand, has spread to the grounds of the prestigious university.

Ward said: “Allen was a groundskeeper at Oxford University.

“There are a large number of officers who have been deployed to find the suspect.

“We are searching the grounds of Oxford University. There are a number of addresses we have already visited in Didcot, as well as an open search in Oxford.”

The bodies of a 44-year-old man, 48-year-old woman and six-year-old girl were discovered on Vicarage Road in Didcot yesterday after a member of the public alerted police. Police are yet to identify them.

It is not believed a firearm was used.

On his instagram account, under the name Mr Meat Tank, Allen posted photos of himself impersonating X-Men character Wolverine, complete with makeshift metal claws.

Allen, who apparently modelled himself on the bushy side burned super hero, posted hundreds of photos, including knifes, knuckle dusters and ebola spelt out in Scrabble tiles.

The head of the Thames Valley Police Major Crime Unit said: “Thames Valley Police is releasing an image of a man wanted in connection with three murders in Didcot yesterday.
