“Queen of Porn” Jenna Jameson has been removed as an honorary JCR member at Teddy Hall.

A motion demanding her removal passed on Sunday with 26 votes for and 22 against.

She was removed because “having said porn star as an honorary member of the JCR reflects badly on us”.

The original motion was amended to add that she was removed because she was made an honorary member in the first place as a joke by a bunch of “lads”.

Some are outraged at what happened. One JCR member in the meeting said “She retired from porn in 2008. She opened her own porn company which supports women more. The porn she produces is far less misogynistic.

The motion

“So I think if we remove her not only will it cause a massive uproar it would be anti-feminist of us to do it.”

And on Cuntry Living the move was branded as “whorephobic”, with admin Alice Nutting saying: “Seems like a bit of a coincidence that out of all the honorary members, it was a sex worker that was removed.

“How is this a ‘positive change’? IMO it would have been a really good (and feminist) statement to have a sex worker as an honorary JCR member.”

And another CL member deemed the motion “very SWERFy and sex-negative”.

But some students noted that her presence on Teddy Hall’s website might scare off applicants.

The motion refers to porn as an industry that “is often (if not always) demeaning to women, which propagates the idea of the female body as a sex object”.

Other Teddy Hall honorary JCR members include Tom Cruise, Jeremy Paxman and “kebab-maker extraordinaire” Ahmed.
