Serial college burglar jailed after stealing £3000 worth of goods

He broke into St John’s, St Catz, Balliol, St Antony’s and Mansfield

Burglary crime Thief

A robber who broke into five Oxford colleges and made off with £3000 worth of goods has been jailed.

30 year-old Nathan Dorsett broke into St John’s, St Catz, Balliol and St Antony’s in a string of thefts that started in July.

He was finally caught by a hero porter outside Mansfield.

His plunder included wallets, iPhones, a laptop, cameras, £900 in cash, a Kindle and a University of Washington graduation ring.

St Catz didn’t have much to offer as only “crackers and chocolate were taken from the dining room”.

Dorsett, who comes from Birmingham, has been sentenced to two years and nine months in jail for his crimes.

The case should serve as a shocking reminder to students to lock their windows and doors, and maybe don’t leave £900 in cash lying around.
