What would actually happen if you let guys dress you for a night out?

We asked three guys to dress their girl mates for a night out: clothes, hair, make-up, the works. The results were weird, wonderful, and a little bit terrifying…

The boys

Meet Anthony, Simon and Alec

Anthony: Rugby LAD LAD LAD

Usual attire: stash, stash, and sometimes, stash.

Simon: Port & Policy bae

Usual attire: anything blue, except for white tie

Alec: Hoxton hero.

Usual attire: them wavey, wavey, garms.

NO. 1: LAUREN

BEFORE

What’s your ideal style for a woman?

Simon: I like women wearing blue blazers. I also like a tidy handbag. Not too much make up, understated is better. I prefer hair to be long, straight and worn down too.

Which celebrity female’s style do you like most?

Blake Lively.

“Margaret would not approve of this”

We nearly had to fetch Simon a TENA Lady when he found a blue blazer AND blue shirt

“Is this a wetsuit?”

Even Maggie liked an accessory or two.

AFTER

Simon kept to his true colour(s) by dressing Lauren in a blue blazer, blue shirt and blue pendant necklace. Our P&P bae then chose a floral monochrome skort, nude studded clutch, black tights and heeled leather boots. Make-up was kept simple with mascara and red lipstick.

What do you think of Simon’s outfit choice?

Lauren: I would take everything picked…individually. To be fair, from the waist down, he’s done pretty well. The rest is just, blue.

What’s your ideal style for a woman?

Anthony: Nothing particularly fussy, it’s what’s underneath that counts. Classy-dirty-sexy-elegant. If you’ve done your make-up well, a guy shouldn’t be able to tell, right? Less is more. Personally I like brunette hair, moderate to long, generally straight. And clean. Needs to be clean.

Which celebrity female’s style do you like most?

Mila Kunis.

“This is how I think edgy people dress.” – “Have you ever been to Cellar?”

“This is a top? This is a whole top?”

“You know, ‘cause it’s like a nice surprise in case you do pull.” And this is when it all started to go wrong.

“Hang on, did you just put eyeshadow under my eye?!” – “Does it not go under the eye?!”

AFTER

Anthony decided that you can never have enough pattern, and opted for acid wash leggings, a floral bralet, a navy corduroy shirt. This interesting look was finished off with a bottle top necklace and white platform hi-tops. Nearly a whole pot of black eyeshadow, some glitter and lipstick later, Claudia’s make up was apparently done. Finally, a topknot. A topknot.

What do you think of Anthony’s outfit choice?

Claudia: That…I would never go out in this outfit. He’s taken clashing patterns to a new level.

NO. 3: CAITLIN

OCCASION: BRIDGE THURSDAY

What’s your ideal style for a woman?

Alec: Skirt and a tube top.

Tube top? Do you mean a crop top?

Yes, that’s it. That and thick, black high heels. Make-up wise I like eyeliner and pale lipstick. I really like it when a girl has braids in her hair. I’m a fan of braids and wispy bits.

Which celebrity female’s style do you like the most?

Cara Delevingne.

“I just can’t really envision what this looks like on a human. Is this broken?”

Alec: “I don’t even notice tights. Tights, surely, tights?”

Which ones, which ones?

“If you bronze your face will it not look weird if you don’t bronze your arms?”

AFTER

Alec’s (somewhat painfully long) time and consideration paid off. The indie kid chose a black and white sheer-sleeved crop top, a black skort and lace-up heeled boots. Alec rather impressively did his favourite “braids and wispy bits”. Caitlin’s make up was also kept simple, with eyeliner, concealer, bronzer and nude lipstick.

What do you think of Alec’s outfit choice?

Caitlin: It’s surprisingly good…I wasn’t expecting it.
