Trailer to Bullingdon film ‘The Riot Club’ released

The Bullingdon Club gets the Hollywood treatment in trailer released to new film based on notorious drinking society

Months after a film adaptation of Laura Wade’s play ‘Posh’ was announced, the first trailer for Danish director Lone Cherfig’s movie has emerged, complete with a new name – ‘The Riot Club’.

Watch the trailer below:

The film stars Max Irons and Sam Clafin who play two new Oxford students “who are determined to join the infamous Riot Club”. The initial revelry of copious spending and charming exclusivity soon turns sour, as the club descends into avid elitism and brutal violence.

Although not explicitly stated, ‘The Riot Club’ is a fictionalised version of the Bullingdon Club, but director Scherfig said there was no link between current government members and the characters of the film.

She said “if you see things that are horrific in this film you shouldn’t blame the Bullingdon Club. Or the other way round”.

Watch out for the Oxford landmarks, including a convertible Aston Martin drifting under the Bridge of Sighs and a rooftop scene located somewhere on the High Street.

‘The Riot Club’ is released in cinemas on September 19th.
